1) I'm 28 years old.
2) I'm originally from Western Colorado but now live in South Carolina.
3) I'm currently working 2 part-time jobs, one at the Women's shelter and the other at a tutoring center. I enjoy teaching and tutoring but want to get into the social work field and am hoping to do that through my job at the Women's shelter.
4) I love animals. I currently have 4 pets of my own: 3 kittens (who are siblings), Faith, Amity (which is Latin for friendship) and Kibou, and an adult cat Shiloh. I also foster dogs for the local shelter.
5) I am on disability for my mental illness. This is not something I blatantly advertise to people. It limits the amount I can work which provides a safety net for me to make sure I don't overwork myself. It also provides a safety net in case I end up in the hospital.
6) In my free time, I like to write (obviously), read, work on crafts, watch TV and movies, and spend time with friends, enjoy a good meal, and go to concerts!
7) I have become active in my local NAMI affiliate. I facilitate support groups, lead classes, and do presentations. It keeps me busy and I love it.
8) I am currently working on my Master's in Social Work. I just completed my Bachelor's degree in April of 2020 in early childhood education. I am excited to continue to pursue my master's degree. My ultimate career goal is to either work in an ER type setting or to work in a psychiatric hospital.
9) One dream of mine is to eventually become a foster parent. I do not want biological children of my own but I want to foster children. Again, this will depend on my health.
10) I'm not close to my family of origin but my parent's godson's family are people I am extremely close to. I call them my brother and sister. They have 2 kids and I call them my niece and nephew. Those 2 children are the light of my life and I love them with all of my heart.
Overall, my heart is to help. That is my goal in life.
